Method Man & Redman @ Electric Factory 6/29

One of the best hip hop duos to come out of New York is back on the road. Method Man & Redman are coming to the Electric Factory in June for a special tour. Method Man & Redman both are East Coast rappers and both signed with Def Jam Records. Even though the duo only released two albums with each other, their influence on the rap universe is unparallel. Method Man & Redman is as known for their acting in the cult classic film How High.

Method Man & Redman have been friends long before signing to Def Jam. In 1994, the duo met while on tour. In 1995, Method Man & Redman appeared on fellow rapper 2Pac highly popular album, All Eyez On Me. Method Man & Redman released their debut single, “How High” in 1995. The single was greatly received, peaking at number 13 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and number 2 on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart. The single was later certified gold by RIAA in 2013. The duo would also make guest appearances on various rap albums during the height of their career in the 1990s.

Method Man & Redman headlined various tours during their career before their debut album. The duo released their debut album, Blackout!, back in 1999. The highly successful album debuted at number 3 on Billboard’s 200 charts. The project featured a handful of guest appearances from west and east coast. The album earned more than 1,000,000 sales in their first year. Method Man & Redman only released one more studio album, Blackout! 2, before quietly fading away. Even though it has been a while since the rap world heard from the legendary duo, their influence lives on.
