Halsey’s name has been steadily growing the past year or so, and 2017 looks to be the year where the momentum starts to pay off. The singer is back today with a new track, “Eyes Closed,” which she debuted on Zane Lowe’s radio show, making it her 2nd single from her upcoming album, hopeless fountain kingdom.
The new track, co-penned by none other than The Weeknd, is dark, sinister, and full of synth. Hasley echoes over reverb-heavy bass as airy, screeching synths and 808’s drop in to add some weight to the hook. Her vocals are soulful and menacing all in one while she describes thoughts and feeling she still has for an ex-lover, even though she is in a new relationship.
This isn’t the first time Hasley has worked with The Weeknd, the singer toured with him back in 2015 while he was supporting his Beauty Behind the Madness album. Now, however, Hasley is setting out on her own, with r&b heavyweights PartyNextDoor and Charli XCX joining in support. The headlining tour will kick off in Uncasville, CT at the tail-end of September, and wrap up in Cleveland, OH on 11/22. Fans who purchase tickets will also get redeem one physical copy of her new album.
Her new album, hopeless fountain kingdom is out June 2 and available for preorder.
