Wavves @ The Foundry 5/16

American rock band Wavves is heading to The Foundry next week. Wavves is touring in support of their upcoming album, due this month. The San Diego-based band is hitting the road as the opening act for Blink 182 and The Naked and The Famous later in the year. Wavves music has been described as indie rock and sometimes alternative. Wavves has released a total of 5 albums since 2008. Wavves is a great band with a great unique sound.

Since their beginning in 2008, Wavves have continuned to make a name for themselves in the music world with their sound. Wavves released their self titled debut album in 2008. The album caught the attention of some very popular music magazines like Pitchfork, Spin, and The A.V. Club. After gaining more attention, the band left for their first US tour which included limited cities. In 2009, Wavves released their second album,Wavvves, which also recieved the same praise as their debut album. Things only got better as the band got bigger. The band released their third album, King of the Beach in 2010. The album later became one of Wavves’ highest selling albums. The album was produced by Grammy winning producer Dennis Herring and recieved great reviews. The album was named as one of the best 50 albums of the year by popular music blog Pitchfork in 2010. Wavves next fe albums followed the same path as the pervious, earning top remarks along the way.

Wavves played a major part in the soundtrack for the popular video game Grand Theft Auto V, even hosting one of the game’s fictional radio stations. Over the years, the band has performed over a 100 shows in the US and overseas. Wavves made their live tv debut on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2013. Wavves is releasing their new album this month, be on the lookout for this work of art.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
