Baroness, who’s members along with Neurosis will unite to perform as Razors in the Night at the Roadburn Festival, has recently revealed that they will be working on a new album after the release of Purple.
Purple was the band’s first released work since the bus crash in August of 2012 near Bath, England. This event had lead a few previous members of the band to leave.
This upcoming album will be the band’s 5th studio album and will contain what members have learned from previous work. As the drummer and the bassist have been in the band for the long time, there has been an understanding of the styles of writing and tunes that will work with this new album.
According to Metal Injection, John Baizley told Metal Hammer that the band has been working on new songs. He says “We’ve started writing a few tunes that we’re working on. The really cool thing now is that Sebastian and Nick have been in the band long enough that they understand what we do. Preparing for Roadburn we had to learn some really old songs and in doing so they gained an understanding of that era of our band. They’re now interested in maybe incorporating some of those elements in some way. We just want to write better songs.”
With the beginning of this writing process, a specific date for a release or the album title have not yet been named.
