What do you get when you combine pop with rock? You get the talented Alternative rock band Beware of Darkness. While based in on the west coast, Beware of Darkness has reached all across the US with their unique music. The band’s last album, Are You Real? proved Beware of Darkness can rock out with the big dogs. Beware of Darkness has drawn comparisons to the likes of other alt-rock bands like Artic Monkeys and Cage The Elephant. Known for their powerful live performances, Beware of Darkness is not to be missed when they come to The Foundry in Philadelphia next week.
Beware of Darkness was formed in 2010 after a meeting between Kyle Nicolaides and Tony Cupito. The duo met Daniel Curcio a little later and played their first show at the Roxy in Los Angeles. The band signed a record deal with Bright Antenna the same year and opened for various artists. Things started to look up for the group when they were asked to play at the famous SXSW festival in 2012. Beware of Darkness released their debut single “Howl” in April 2012. The music video was released on music channel Fuse later in the year. Their debut album, Orthodox, was released May 2013 in the United States. After the release of the album, Beware of Darkness toured the United Kingdom and Europe supporting rock band Smashing Pumpkins. Beware of Darkness has played side by side with bands like Soundgarden, AWOLNATION, and Thirty Seconds to Mars at various festivals.
In August 2013, the band was nominated for “Best New Band” by UK’s Classic Rock Magazine. Their hit single, “Howl” has been featured in various movies and video games over the years. Beware of Darkness made their first live tv debut on Conan performing “Howl” in 2013. The single peaked at number 6 on Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart while their album Orthodox debuted at number 30 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart.
