Corey Taylor is a man who refuses to slow down.
When he’s not donning the mask with Slipknot, he is rocking out on stage with his other long-running project, Stone Sour. Taylor and company have been slowly teasing something the past few weeks, but today finally brings the announcement of a new album and along with it, two new tracks.
The new album, Hydorgrad, will be out this June 30 through Roadrunner Records and will be their first in four years following up the 2013 release of House of Gold and Bones Part 2. Taylor has gone on record to state that this new album will be “flat out rock ‘n’ roll,” and will take heavy influence (and some classic lines) from classic acts such as Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, something that is evident on their new single “Fabuless.”
The energetic new track shows the band on stage with one of the most energetic crowds ever seen as the soaring guitar riff drives the energy of the song and Taylor switches back and forth between the melodic hook and more aggressive, in your face growling, providing an ebb and flow across the song.
But Stone Sour wasn’t content to stop there. Later in the day they dropped another track off the new album, “Song #3” (though it’s the fifth track on the album). The new track falls right in line with “Fabuless” as frantic guitar chords drive the temp on the upside, letting Taylor slide in with his signature gruff yet smooth melodies.
In addition to the new album, Stone Sour will be plenty busy this year as they will support Korn and Rammstein on tours this year as well as take part in the High Elevation festival. You can check out the new singles below along with the tracklist.
