Mysterious posters popping up in major cities around the world such as London, Berlin, New York and Los Angeles have given birth to a conspiracy theory by Radiohead fans who have taken the posters as a sign the band is gearing up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of OK Computer on May 21.
New debates on the sub-pages of Reddit have fans speculating and debating what the posters could mean. User’s of Reddit have spent hours if not days attempting to piece together and decipher clues they’ve derived from the placement, timing, and even the font. People are claiming that the posters are “pretty obviously tied to the album’s themes” and that “the poster might have originally been part of the OK Computer merch back in the day.”
Amongst the conspiracy claims people also point to the fact that Radiohead’s former art collaborator, Stanley Donwood has been teasing an upcoming Radiohead project. He has also been posting photos of scaffolding on Instagram where he is working on something, the details of which have not yet been revealed.
A user on Reddit declared the posters feature a font identical to the one Stanley Donwood used on the album’s artwork and posters in the past. If these posters represent a celebration for Radiohead’s ‘Ok Computer’, expect something to go down on May 21, which was the album’s release date.
