Goldfrapp has just released video for their single “Systemagic” off of the album they released on March 31 titled Silver Eye. What stands out about this video, seen below, is that Alison Goldfrapp directed the video herself, in her directorial debut. According to Under the Radar Magazine, the video was choreographed by illyr. The video features a “coven of moon-worshippers dancing under the watchful Silver Eye,” as described in a press release.

Alison desribed her directing in a press release: “I wanted the focus to be on the dancers, their bodies and their movement. It’s my first outing into directing. And wow, what an experience! I hope I’ll do more. Its a world I’d like to explore and learn much, much more in!”

Silver Eye was relaesed via Mute and is the British duo’s first album in four years, following the 2013 release Tales of Us. Alison and Goldfrapp’s other half Will Gregory are said to have spent 10 days at the Dallas studio of Congleton, who is known for his work with Wild Beasts and St. Vincent. There was also some work done in London with The Haxan Cloak, Bobby Krlic, who has worked with Björk.

Alison Goldfrapp had this to say about the album’s process in a previous press release: “We’ve never liked repeating ourselves. Often we react to things we’ve just done. We like the spontaneity of not knowing. It’s only through the process that we start to figure out what it is. The fans who have stuck with us are the ones who embrace that idea and are excited by the thought that they don’t know quite what to expect next.”

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
