Poliça Announce Their New Music Video For “Lipstick Stains” Produced By Boize Noize To Be Released On Record Store Day

We’ve all had those nights out where we walk out of the club and it’s not sunrise, but it’s not exactly pitch black either, where you’re not quite sober, but you still feel those last few drinks. In case you ever needed a soundtrack for that moment, Poliça just gave you one with their new video for “Lipstick Stains.”

The new track dropped online earlier this week, and now a visual accompaniment has arrived. Two dancers, (one artist/choreographer Nkechi Njaka and Poliça frontwoman Channy Leaneagh winding and twisting around each other in an empty warehouse, only themselves, the soft vocals riding over that Boize Noize-produced thumping bass, and a flood of warm light dictating the viewer’s attention. It’s the perfect complement to the soothing track.

Speaking of simplistic visuals, the production and recording of the video was equally simplistic.“The video was shot in a small studio in northeast Minneapolis by director Adam Dunn using only his iPhone,” said Channy.

Channy goes on to elaborate how the video was a chance for her to fulfill a creative dream with her friend Njaka.

“I’ve always wanted to create a dance piece with my friend Nkechi Njaka – a choreographer and neuroscientist who has mentored me over the years in how to use meditation and movement as a live performer – and someone I really respect and am inspired by constantly. This was an opportunity to create movement with her in real time to a song that I care very much about.”

“Lipstick Stains,” along with the single “Still Counts,” will be part of a double A-side 7-inch Record Store Day release. Poliça were also a part of the House of Vans SXSW 2017 parties.
