Burger Records, an independent record label and record store in Fullerton, California, is teaming up with Volcom to announce their new project called the Cyber Singles Club. The Cyber Singles Club is a weekly new music series that will feature 20 of Burger Records’ artists. Representing all different genres, from pop to punk, the Club will showcase a new song every Monday recorded by a different Burger Records up and coming star. All of the songs released by the Club will be available for free to download and stream.
The Club launches on Monday April 17th, with The Side Eyes showcasing their punk runk sound, led by vocalist Astrid McDonald, the daughter of singer and guitarist Jeff Mcdonald. Every Monday thereafter, another Burger Records artist will release a single through the Club. Some of the artists set to participate in this project are The High Curbs, VAJJ, Wyatt Blair, The Flytraps, Hammered Satin, Death Valley Girls and thirteen other unannounced artists.
All of the songs will be recorded exclusively at Volcom’s new studio in Costa Mesa, California. Volcom took on the studio, which was already a well used recording and rehearsal studio, with the purpose of creating a free, creative space. Each of the Burger Records artists recording at Volcom’s new studio for the Cyber Singles Club was given the incredible opportunity to experiment and create without restraints of time and finances. Afterwards, they walked away with their own recordings that they owned 100% and could eventually be put on future albums released by Burger Records. That type of opportunity is unheard of for a young band.
Burger Records made their name by supporting young, DIY bands. The independent record label is one of the fastest growing record labels of all time. It was founded in just 2007 by Sean Bohrman and Lee Rickard. They have already put out over 1,000 releases and helped bring back the popularity of cassette tapes, selling over 300,000 worldwide. One Ryan Adams cassette tape sold over 400 in just three hours. They have put on many music festivals, including Burgerama and Burger-A- Go-Go in Orange County, Burger Boogaloo in Oakland, CA, Burger Beach Bash on Coney Island, and Burger Mania at SXSW.
