A wild festival with the combination of Heavy Metal music, Halloween and tropical weather is set to happen from October 29th to November 2nd in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. ASK4 Entertainment, the creator and producer of ShipRocked, has announced the first annual Metal Maya festival. It is a 4-day all-inclusive heavy metal destination festival vacation at the luxurious Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun Resort.
A few of the bands set to headline at the festival are Anthrax, Overkill and Death Angel. Anthrax has been having a very busy 2017 tour schedule, touring the country with Killswitch Engage. After their Killthrax tour, they’re excited to finish off their performances in a resort area like Cancun. “I’ve been going down to Riviera Cancun for a few years now, and it’s one of my favorite places,” said Anthrax’s Charlie Benante. “And now, to go down there and play, and have some fun, and enjoy the weather?! This is going to be an awesome event! I’m really excited about it and I think that everyone’s going to have a great time. We’re all going to be at a place where the weather’s beautiful, the ocean’s there, the drinks are pouring, the metal is blasting, and your favorite bands are playing. Can’t wait to see you there!”
The festival is also excited to have the all-star heavy metal band, Metal Allegiance. Metal Allegiance will also feature Phil Demmel (Machine Head), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Gary Holt (Slayer/Exodus), Mark Menghi, Mark Osegueda (Death Angel), Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, The Neal Morse Band), Steve “Zetro” Souza (Exodus), Ryan Waste (Municipal Waste), and more special guests. The event is hosted by Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin. The four-day festival is ready to be a dream come true for all heavy metal fans.
Metal Maya guests will not only get to hear their favorite heavy metal bands, but they will get to relax with luxury accommodations, gourmet meals and all drinks (yes, alcohol) included with their ticket. Bands will be playing on multiple stages in an intimate environment with only 1,000 guests. Adding on top of all that, Metal Maya wants to celebrate the festivities of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). On November 1st, Dia de los Muertos, guests are encouraged to wear calaca masks and sugar skull makeup, which will undoubtedly be a night to remember.
Ground transportation from Cancun airport is included with all Metal Maya vacation packages. For those guests who don’t want to leave, discounted rooms will be available to Metal Maya guests just before and after the event. Tickets went on sale April 12 at 1:00pm ET and the all-inclusive packages start at only $1399 per person.
