When it comes to Icelandic dream-pop rockers Sigor Rós, it isn’t just a song or an album that they’re offering their listeners. It’s an experience that welcomes them into a different world–a world that’s enchanting, commanding, intense. They released their first album back in 1997 called Von, and their latest album release came out in 2013 called Kveikur. Since then (aside from releasing their own line of edibles in Cali) they’ve been sort of off the radar (with new music, anyway). But now they’re back on tour, playing their extensive discography (which yes, includes Vonlenska–their non-literal language that the band sings in a lot of their songs). But that’s just Sigor Rós for you–crazy different and unafraid of being exactly that.
Chances are that you’ll never pronounce the names of their songs correctly, but that’s hardly the point. These songs are emotional landscapes, luring your body and mind to a place you’ve likely never been before. Their music is ideal for live shows, whether large festivals or intimate shows, because either which way–with their iconic ambient sound–they will deliver an experience that will be undeniably unforgettable.
On their upcoming tour Sigor Rós will perform as a trio, without their customary backdrop of instruments, but they will have support of bold visuals during their set to ensure a dazzling live show (as they’ve always delivered, no matter what the arrangement).
