Mary Timony @ Boots and Saddle 6/7

American singer-songwriter Mary Timony heads to Boots and Saddle this summer for a special show. Throughout her career, Mary has played for multiple bands and wrote most of the songs. Her music has been described as dark, edgy and sometimes heavy. Mary is currently with Ex Hex. The band released their last album in 2014 titled Rips.

Mary Timony was born in Washington D.C. in 1970. As a teen, Mary attended Duke Ellington School of Arts where she studied viola. In 1990, Mary joined D.C. based band Autoclave where she served as one of the lead vocals and guitarists. After moving to Boston to finish college, Mary Timony founded the band Helium in the summer of 1992. The group recorded three EPs and two studio albums before their breakup in 1998. Mary Timony decided to go solo for a few years before moving back to D.C. to form another band. After Wild Flag’s breakup in 2003, Mary formed Ex Hex in 2004. The band’s debut album was released in October 2014.

Along with her solo career, Mary has performed with various other groups. Her most recent solo album was back in 2014. Mary also released a 7″ album with a member of the band The 6ths. In the past, Mary Timony has headlined her own tours all across the US. If in town for a show, Mary Timony is not to be missed.
