Tycho @ Stubb’s 5/12

The ambient, post-rock Tycho started out as a one-man project in 2002 by Scott Hansen. Not only is Hansen a musician, he is a San Francisco-based artist too. He is known as ISO50, his creates different designs for prints and clothes for his shop. Hansen had worked as a solo artist up until the tour for Dive in 2011. He decided to keep the two members after our had ended. Tycho has been described as a trio for a couple of years now, consisting of Scott Hansen (synthesizers, guitar, bass, visuals and programming), Zac Brown (bass and guitar) and Rory O’Conner (drums)

Tycho has been known for using vintage synthesizers to create the perfect sound, which really takes a huge part in what makes Tycho, Tycho.  Since the start of the band, they have released five studio albums, three EPs and multiple singles. Epoch is the latest album that was out in September 2016. The record contains eleven songs that are full of simplistic ambient rhythms that fit perfectly in between the soft guitar and drum tones. In the 2017 Grammy Awards, Epoch received a nomination for Best Dance/Electronic album. Any of Tycho’s albums are the perfect remedy for de-stressing.
