Ab-Soul @ The Catalyst 5/24

Hip-hop star Ab-Soul is making a cool stop in Santa Cruz this spring! He will performing at The Catalyst on May 24th. He will be making his way around the U.S and the U.K throughout this spring to summer tour.

Ab-Soul came into the scene back in 2002 and he’s made a name for himself especially in his native California, but throughout the country. He is a member of highly regarded rap collective Black Hippy, which includes other superstar rappers Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and Schoolboy Q. Recently, the rapper put out his last release in late 2016 with the album Do What Thou Wilt., that album is known for the singles Huey Knew, Braille, The Law, and D.R.U.G.S. Previous to that the rapper has released three other solo studio albums. Other songs the rapper is known for are Illuminate, Terrorist Threats, Hunnid Stax, Black Lip Bastard, Moscato, and Pineal Gland. He is a frequent collaborator with his fellow Black Hippy members, so he has also gained fame through his affiliation. Ab-Soul’s rap style falls in line with many other rappers who are gaining success currently, he’s candid, progressive, and technically he’s one of the smoothest rappers out there. He hits a few controversial issues, but does it well.

Fans of Dom Kennedy, Vince Staples, and A$AP Rocky will be down for this show. Ab-Soul has fun hooks, is technically amazing, and keeps his shows refreshing. Catch up with him when he heads into Santa Cruz next month!
