To usher in the 50th anniversary of experimental German rock group Can, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley and My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe joined Malcom Mooney, Can’s original vocalist, on stage. The show was called The Can Project and took place, for the first night, at London’s Barbican Hall on April 8, fan footage can be seen below.
As reported by Consequence of Sound, the show included several renditions of Can’s original material. There was also a segment that featured Can keyboardist, Irmin Schmidt, orchestrating the London Symphony Orchestra for a special song titled “An homage to Can.” The next production to be put on by The Can Project will be in June at Glastonbury.
