In the mind of Jack White no warning was needed because recently White released a surprise new song on all streaming services titled “Battle Cry”, the first music fans have heard from him since 2014’s Lazeretto. Another surprise for fans and also possibly acting as a form of cross promotion. According to ROLLINGSTONE, it was also revealed that the song will act as the walk up song for Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler. The both of them have a closer relationship than fans probably realize. Ian Kinsler and Jack White are both co-owners of a baseball hat company called Warstic.
“Battle Cry” is also used as the soundtrack for a recent ad/promotional film that features Kinsler titled, War Cry: The Battle of the Hawk and the Raven. The song has a positive motive behind it as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Native Wellness Institute’s the Well for Culture Program, which is dedicated to promoting the well being of Native Americans through youth and adult programs that embrace the teachings of ancestors.
Recently, White revealed that he was working on new music not in a studio, not in another getaway, but in his Nashville apartment.
