The Black Lips @ Union Transfer 5/03

Garage rock band The Black Lips is coming to the Union Transfer this May. Since their early beginnings in 1999, The Black Lips has made a name for themselves as one of the best bands to come out in the last few years. The Black Lips has released seven albums and a hand full of singles during their career. The band has been known for their outrageous antics.

The band was founded in Georgia by Cole Alexander, Jared Swilley, and Ben Eberbaugh. In 2004 The Black Lips released their self-titled album under Bomp! Records. It wasn’t until 2007 when the band started to gain more attention after performing at the famous South By Southwest Festival. The Black Lips released their second live album withVice Records. A year later, The Black Lips made their tv debut on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, performing a number of hits. Their second studio album, Good Bad Not Evil was also released through Vice Records. Black Lips toured all across the US and Europe in 2008. The band released a 12 song LP under a different name The Almighty. To support their fifth album, The Black Lips did a world tour in 2009.

The Black Lips have been around for a while and continue to amaze. Their raw unfiltered lyrics are one of the many things that make this band so great. Their last album was produced by Mark Ronson while on their world tour. Their shows have been their signature, go check them out when they come to town.
