Listen, we’re all pretty excited about the new Gorillaz album right? There really isn’t much more to say or show you to get you any more hyped, right? Well not so fast.
The band already dropped off a wicked music video and shared several snippets of their songs, but Damon Albarn is a generous man and is giving us a preview of another Humanz track, “Let Me Out.”
The new track pairs rap’s reigning kingpin Pusha T along with soul queen Mavis Staples for an upbeat song that has all the ingredients for a solid protest anthem.
As part of the album buildup, the band is also rolling out something called the Gorillaz Spirit House (pop-up) where fans will be witness to “an immersive, high-fidelity experience that will allow fans to physically explore the world of famed virtual band Gorillaz, including a real-life manifestation of the lounge in Gorrillaz own home.”
The pop-up will include a “real-life manifestation” of the fictional members’ own home, and will offer fans “the opportunity to dive deeper into their world through exclusive music and visuals through physical installations and projection mapping technology.”
What that actually means remains to be seen, but songwriter Murdoc Niccals provides a pretty enticing invitation: “Come and bathe in high-tech sound, feast on unearthly visuals, and let the experience take you on the ultimate trip.”
The Spirit House will be hosted in Brooklyn from April 21-23, then will hit the road to Berlin and Amsterdam. You can RSVP to the experience here.
So yeah, pretty excited for Humanz, now, right?
Oh and by the way…Damon Albarn let it slip that he has 40-45 leftover Gorillaz tracks in an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe.
“I can stay in the game for at least another 18 months, I reckon.”
So there’s that.
Humanz is out April 28 and the band will also be performing in North America for the first time in over six years. You can also check out the new track below.
