Independent artist Kate Nash has just announced the launch of her Kickstarter campaign to fund her fourth album. She made the announcement via a few Twitter posts, found below, that explain why she chose to use this as a means to fund her project and to remain independent.
“I want to be free to make the kind of art I believe in, explains Nash on her Kickstarter page. “I want to Work on it with the people that have believed in me the most.”
With the idea that the only people that she wants to incorporate into her new album are her fans, Nash launched her campaign in hopes that this group of people will be her record label. A group of people that she descibes in the Twitter posts to make her feel “the most safe and loved and free and creative.”
Like most Kickstarter campaigns there will be a reward system based on the amount of money you are willing to pledge to her new album. For a pledge of $60 or more she will offer a signed CD, digital download, exclusive updates, your name in album artwork, exclusive T-shirt and a polaroid. Then as the tiers get progressively more there is a single reward added on to the previous package. For a pledge of $90 or more you will receive all of the above plus a signed Vinyl and for the next tier of $120 or more you receive all of the previous rewards plus a silk screen poster. For the $250 or more they add in a handwritten lyrics poster, for $350 or more an exclusive Girl Gang Jacket, for $750 or more an actual Skype sesh, for $2,500 a custom Kate Nash fender Bass Guitar and finally for a pledge of $5,000 or more Nash and her band will play a show at your house. The rewards are definitely and indication of just how strongly Nash feels about remaining independent and having her fans be her record label. You can visit Nash‘s Kickstarter page here.
