Formerly known as Untapped Fest, the newly named Index Fest will be kicking off their series of festivals this year in the live music capitol of the world. After Austin, the fest will visit Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The festival’s focus is on music and craft beer. Along with the live music, there will be 80+ breweries and 250+ different beers.
The LA based indie-rock band, Local Natives, will be headlining at the festival this year. The band was formed by three of the members in 2005 while they were in high school and joined by two other members a couple of years later. They really got fan’s attention after playing multiple shows at SXSW in 2009. Local Natives have released three albums and several singles. Sunlit Youth is their most recent album that was released in 2016.
The festival will bring local and national bands that are on the come up. There will be a total of five bands performing. Along with Local Natives are two other LA based bands, Frenship, which are an electro-synth-pop duo and Grizfolk, which are an alternative-rock band from Sweden. To complete the list is the Austin based psychedelic-folk band called Calliope Musicals and DJ Mark Markus.
