Rapper Lupe Fiasco is making a comeback to the Electric Factory this summer. As a rapper, record producer, and businessman, Lupe Fiasco continues to push the boundaries of his talents. Lupe Fiasco grew up in Chicago and that’s where he found rap. Lupe signed a record deal with Atlantic Records after a meeting with rapper Jay-Z. Lupe released his first mixtape, Fahrenheit 1/15 while working on his debut album. The mixtape was well received throughout the music industry. After catching fellow rapper Kanye West’s eye, he offered Lupe to perform on his new album. Lupe’s debut album, Lupe Fiasco’s Food and Liquor, featured an all-star cast on production. The album earned 3 Grammy nominations including Best Rap Album. Lupe Fiasco was voted as “Breakout Man of the Year” by GQ magazine. The album appeared at number 2 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart.
Lupe’s second album, The Cool performed just as much as the first one. The breakout single, “Superstar” reached number 10 on Billboard Hot 100. Later the same year, Lupe went on tour with Kanye West. After some complications with the release of his third album, Laser was release 2011. As Lupe Fiasco continues to expand his skills, he makes a name for himself as one the greats.
