Two things you can always count on: death and festival announcements.
New York’s very own Electric Zoo festival has been around for nearly a decade and has been one of the premiere electronic festivals for the New York area and have taken their festival on the road to Tokyo, Mexico City and Shanghai. Previous themes have included “Wild Island,” and featured performances from warm-weather artists The CHainsmokers, Bassnectar, Steve Aoki and others.
Now, the festival returns to its hometown to explore “new frontiers” with their “The 6th Boro” themed festival.
The labor day-scheduled festival feature some heavyweights in the electronic genre. DJ Snake will headline the Friday, September 1 set, Above and Beyond will hold things down on Saturday while deadmau5 and ERIC PRYDZ will close things out that Sunday.
This year’s theme is designed to pay homage to the festival’s hometown and promises to “sparkle with the surreal, dazzle with imagination and envision New York City in a way never thought possible.”
Far from just a musical set, many of the acts will feature “new stage designs, interactive performers, unique installations and more,” and will run across the spectrum of electronic music from deep house and techno, to trance and trap music.
