Mod Sun @ The Fillmore 4/18

American rapper, poet, and rock singer Mod Sun is heading to the famous Fillmore next month for a special show. After releasing his second studio album Movie earlier this month, Mod Sun looks to continue his success. Mod Sun has released multiple mixtapes and EPs. Mod Sun is currently with Rostrum Records.

Dylan Smith, known as Mod Sun, was born on March 10, 1987, in Bloomington, Minnesota. Dylan Smith changed his name from Derek at the age of 18. Dylan first got his start in music while playing drummer for hardcore band Four Letter Lie from 2004 until 2009. Dylan also played drums for another punk band Scary Kids Scaring Kids until the band decided to split in 2010. After realizing he wanted a rap career, Dylan started to write his own songs while on tour with his band. Dylan opened as Mod Sun for a few shows on the road with Scary Kids Scaring Kids. Mod Sun’s debut album, Look Up, was released in March 2015 through Rostrum Records. The album was well received throughout the US.

Mod Sun’s music has been described as a psychedelic hip hop. Mod Sun usually raps about the same things most rappers portray but in a different way that makes it great. Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
