Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria released a video for “High,” a recent release from his country album The Long Road Home. The song is a very light and easy country song with similarly simple visuals. The video is almost too cliché with Worsnop seen in an abandoned house playing piano as he croons depressed lyrics and drinks from a glass bottle. Although the video is exactly what you would expect for a country song, it is still a great video. That is the crazy part about this recent jump Worsnop has made from hardcore to country; he really is making great country music! I guess that should be expected from such a talented musician it just isn’t something many fans would have seen coming form a British metal front man.
Coming from Beverly, England Danny Worsnop started fronting the wildly successful heavy metal band in 2009 after the band signed to Sumerian Records and released Stand Up and Scream. After extensive touring with bands like From First To Last and Memphis May Fire the group solidified its spot in the ranks of respected heavy metal acts, releasing two more albums in the following years to huge commercial success. In 2011 Worsnop created We Are Harlot, a hard rock super group with a lineup consisting of band members from Revolution Renaissance, Silvertide and Sebastian Bach. The group’s debut release was extremely well received and marked the departure of Worsnop from Asking Alexandria; he stated he wanted more time to focus on We Are Harlot and other genres of music.
During the two-year hiatus from Asking Alexandria, which he recently returned, Wornsop wrote and recorded what would be his recent country release The Long Road Home. He claims he wrote and recorded the album in one week in producer Jim Kaufmans living room. The album is an ode to his struggles with addiction and rehabilitation. The Long Road Home is an Americana, blues and country mixing pot that really sell’s itself with excellent acoustic riffs and slide guitar solos all supported by his distinctly rough but strong vocals.
