DIIV Announces First Live Shows Since Zachary Cole Smith Entered Long Haul Inpatient Treatment

After cancelling their European tour for health reasons in March 2016 and having their lead singer Zachary Cole Smith entering inpatient treatment earlier this year, alternative rock group DIIV have announced handful of new shows in the United States. The shows were announced without much fanfare on the band’s site.
There is no solid evidence that the treatment was due to Smith’s well-documented struggles with addiction, though many were led to that conclusion. Though there are only five shows, mainly on the West Coast, it is an encouraging sign that the situation has improved for Smith.

He has been documenting his sobriety on Twitter and Instagram:

In 2016, the band released their solid sophomore effort Is the Is Are, which included singles like “Under the Sun” and “Mire (Grant’s Song).”
