Punk rock band The Explosions is coming to the Boots and Saddle this upcoming June. The Explosions last show was in April 2007, after which they broke up. During The Explosions’ career, the band released three studio albums, one live album, and four EPs. Their music has been featured on multiple soundtracks.
The Explosions formed in Boston, Massachusetts during the late 90s. Their demo sold over 1,000 units in the first month of their release. The band toured with Kid Dynamite before signing with indie record label Jade Tree Records in 2000. The debut album, Flash Flash Flash, gained a lot of positive reviews at the time of its release. Flash Flash Flash was listed as one of the best albums of 2000 by Spin Magazine. The Explosions began touring across Europe and U.S. with other popular bands like AFI, US Bombs, Tiger Army, and many others. The Explosions also made appearances on the Vans Warped Tours. After having problems with their record label, the band left to create their own.
The Explosions released their EP, Sick of Modern Art in 2003 under their new label. After the EP release, The Explosions gave Virgin Records control over their indie label after a major bidding war over the band. Their album, Blank Tape was released under Virgin Records in 2004. Thier hit single, “Here I Am” was featured on multiple video games soundtracks. The band is currently on a reunion tour with limited shows.
