FYF Fest has revealed an unforgettable lineup for their 2017 edition; which is expanding to 3 days and includes headliners Missy Elliott, Björk, Frank Ocean and Nine Inch Nails. In addition to the headliners: A Tribe Called Quest, Iggy Pop, Hannibal Buress, Erykah Badu, Solange, Anderson .Paak, Nicolas Jaar, and more are all slated to be in attendance.
The Goldenvoice-produced premier Los Angeles-based summertime festival returns to Exposition Park in Los Angeles this July 21-23, and has once again proven its ability to book a wide range of talent with headliners in the past including Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, Morrissey, and Kanye West. Frank Ocean was previously slated to headline in 2015 but was replaced at the last minute for West. This year’s lineup is arguably the most diverse lineup yet for the festival; not only including multiple female headliners but also covering various genres of music. Another fun aspect to this year’s fest is the return of a comedic aspect to the festival for the first time since 2013 with Hannibal Buress being added to the lineup!
This year’s FYF fest will include multiple special performances by the artists slated to attend. In addition to being the first west coast show performance by A Tribe Called Quest’s since they released the groups final album We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, Blonde Redhead will be performing ‘A Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons’, Motor City Drum Ensemble’s will be performing their first US show since 2010, and there is also the US Debuts of Helena Hauff and Nadia Rose to look forward too! FYF is also Missy Elliott’s only scheduled show for 2017. Missy recently reminisced on Facebook about making her iconic “I Can’t Stand the Rain” video over 20 years ago!
Tickets are on-sale March 24 at noon. A three-day general admission pass will sell for $299. A VIP option is available for $549. Additional ticket fees will apply. A single day ticket is $125.
UPDATE (4/5): According to post on Twitter, FYF Fest has added a few new artists to their schedule, including the US debut of Kelly Lee Owens, Homeshake, Chicano Batman and Honey Soundsystem.
UPDATE (6/7): Grandaddy, who earlier this year suffered the sudden death of their bassist Kevin Garcia, will not play FYF Fest as they have cancelled their tour.
The good news is that, in their place another iconic band from the 90s indie rock explosion will perform at the Southern California festival. Idaho’s Built to Spill will perform one of their most remarkable albums (in an endlessly-solid discography), Keep It Like A Secret, in full.
