SXSW saw a quick end to horror-core rap group Ho99o9 who’s set got an early ending Wednesday night. IHeartComix held their showcase at Clearport with performance with from Frankie Rose, Sadie Dupuis’ Sad13 solo project, and a midnight show from the New Jersey rap/hardcore outfit Ho99o9. After performing only two songs the group was forced to stop. The reason for the short set was an unruly crowd who was moshing just a bit to hard to the music. Apparently the music did its job and invoked a very rowdy mosh pit that security deemed unsafe.
For those of you unfamiliar with Ho99o9 and wondering what horror-core rap is check out our article here. The band formed in New Jersey in 2012 and has been forging their own combination of punk and hip-hop. They have been steadily releasing music for the last five years, building a following of devoted fans. Lyrically their music isn’t for the faint of heart, with their break through album titled, Dead Bodies in the Lake. The energy they deliver live is undeniable and a great reason to find them at show soon.
Luckily for die hard fans who didn’t get their fix or happened to miss the short Ho99o9 set Wednesday you can see them tonight at the Warp Magazine showcase at Blackheart (1 am) and then Saturday (3/18) at the SXSW Discovery Stage (2 pm).
