Vivid Sydney has announced its full program for the ninth edition of the winter festival and it features a stacked line-up including electro-pop duo Goldfrapp, French two-piece Air, singer-songwriter Nick Murphy an more. Vivid Sydney 2017 will run from May 26th to June 17th with dozens of gigs happening all across town over the 23 day period.
This year’s Opera House lineup features Richie Hawtin who will be bringing his new ‘CLOSE – Spontaneity & Synchronicity’ live show (which will officiall debut at this years Coachella Music and Arts festival) to the Northern Boardwalk of Vivid Sydney alongside a Repressed Records 15th anniversary showcase with Severed Heads and Total Control. Air will be performing in their first Australian show in nine years. The Avalanches will be hosting a Block Party with appearances by DJ Shadow, Briggs and Sampa The Great.
The Studio lineup features hosts Goodgod Super Club with DJ Harvey, Steffi, Karizma and Kenji Takimi. Some hometown flavor is being offered with performances by Sydney DJ Ben Fester, Magda Bytnerowicz and Noise In My Head.
Away from the waterfront, local promoters like Picnic, Heavenly, Vibe Positive and Soul of Sydney will present shows at some of Sydney’s best bars and clubs including Harpoon Harry, Freda’s and Cake Wines Cellar Door. The Oxford Art Factory will also host a Women In Electronic Music Showcase night with sets from Andy Garvey, Sui Zhen, FlexMami and more.
These performances are in addition to the broader spectacular that is Vivid Sydney. Alongside the music, there is also the Vivid Ideas program to check out which includes more than 200 events that explore “the changing face of the creative industries” and feature a line-up spearheaded by acclaimed international artist Shepard Fairey.
For those down under there is also the sensory spectacular that is Vivid Light which included amazing installations spread across Sydney including the newly established area at Barangaroo, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the Sydney Opera House, the Museum Of Contemporary Art and more.
