Earlier this month the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac announced they would be teaming up to headline a pair of multi-day concert events taking place at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles July 15-16 as well as Citi Field in New York City July 15-16 and July 29-30. The festivals have been rightly named: Classic East and Classic West and the lineup of bands joining the legends has been released.
Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Journey, and the Doobie Brothers have been tapped to perform at each festival. The Eagles’ performance comes as a would be breaking up following Glen Frey’s death in January 2016.
“That was the final farewell. I don’t think you’ll see us performing again. I think that was probably it. I think it was an appropriate farewell.”
The festival also marks the first headlining concert by Fleetwood Mac since November of 2015. Stevie Nicks’ has been touring solo in support of her album, 24K Gold, while her bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie have new album of duets on the way which is thought to be coming to the public sometime in May.
Steely Dan is booked for a nine-show residency this April at the Venetian in Las Vegas and you can catch Journey on tour throughout 2017. Earth, Wind & Fire are also touring through July while The Doobie Brothers are touring in July and June with Chicago.
Classic East and Classic West is a joint venture from Azoff MSG Entertainment, Live Nation, the Oak View Group and CAA and all parties plan on making the events an annual tradition.
