Tool has just announced a slue of shows in North America this year in May and in June. The Spring tour will land the acclaimed band in major US cities such as New York and Pittsburgh. The tour will kick off on May 24 in Fairfax, VA at the Eagle Bank Arena and the wrap up on June 8 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL. Tool will also be performing at the Boston Calling Festival on May 28, as part of the tour, at the Harvard Athletic Complex. For a full list of tour dates and ticketing information, see below.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale Friday, March 17 at 10 am local time, with the exception of the Rosemont/Chicago show that will begin its sales at 11 am. If you wanted to get your hands on any VIP packages, tickets for these will go on sale Wednesday, March 15 at 10 am PST, an offer only made available to ToolArmy Members.
If you are not a ToolArmy member you can join via their Tool Web store and take advantage of the exclusive VIP pre-sale and other perks. Fans are encouraged to keep track of the band’s social media outlets and their websites for additional shows.
Tool has been working on their follow-up to their 2006 release, 10,000 Days. They offered a brief update on February 16, according to Rolling Stone, saying that they changed up where they are working. The band temporarily moved some of their gear to a larger space across town to give Maynard James Keenan more space. Keenan is working on vocals for some of the new material in this new setting. The update had this to say of Keenan’s work, “I’m sure that he has already been doing this to some extent, but now he has more room to breathe and a better vocal booth.”
UPDATE (3/13): More dates have been added to the tour in June, seen below.
Tool Spring 2017 Tour Dates:
UPDATE (4/11): Tool has announced a mega-show in Southern California on June 24. The band will be joined by Primus, Melvins and The Crystal Method.
UPDATE (5/5): According to Alternative Nation, Tool has announced the opening acts for their tour. For the first leg of the tour, which runs from 5/24 in Fairfax, VA to 6/9 in St. Paul, MN, the opening act will be up and coming indie/prog/psych act Once and Future Band. They may sound like an unknown act to most Tool fans, but the group just released an excellent self-titled debut in January and are a group on the rise.
The other opening act is not as much of a surprise, though they are a much bigger name. The Crystal Method, previously announced as an opening act for the 6/24 show in San Bernardino, will open up the dates from Calgary, Alberta on 6/12 until the show at Glen Helen Amphitheatre.
