There probably isn’t a single television series that has gained more notoriety as a cult show than Mark Frost’s and David Lynch’s 1990-1991 classic ‘Twin Peaks.’ So when it was announced in October of 2014 that the series would be return as a limited event series directed by the same men in 2017, fans went absolutely wild. Two and a half years later, it is now 2017 and the new show is confirmed to start airing in May.
A year before its airing, the Twin Peaks creators had revealed the official cast list for the upcoming reboot last April. The list was surprisingly flush with musicians including Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor, beloved indie singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten, pop sensation Sky Ferreira, pop trio Au Revoir Simone, and synthpop act the Chromatics.
Following 2012’s critically adored Kill for Love, the Chromatics had teased its next release, Dear Tommy, with singles since December of 2014, but fans are yet to see a full release.
Now, Echo Park Records has confirmed that Ruth Radelet, Johnny Jewel, and the rest of the Chromatics will be appearing in Twin Peaks. In addition, Echo Park shared a photo featuring broken LPs of the yet-to-released album lying beneath a copy of Laura Palmer’s iconic yearbook glamour shot.
Although no date is confirmed with this update, hopefully the Chromatics will see 2017 as a fitting time to release Dear Tommy and satisfy fans’ lingering hunger for more fantastic nu-Italo-disco.
Don’t forget to watch the sprawling 18-episode third season of Twin Peaks come May 21, when the reboot hits Showtime.
