It is always a fun time in music when artists are able to come together and put their ego’s aside due to the amount of respect they have for one another. The biggest winner in moments like this are not corporations, ticket sellers, or merchandisers. The winner is the fans. Supporters of these artists develop levels of excitement that did not exist before artists decided to team up. Members from the group Caribou, Hot Chip, Junior Boys, and more have decided to team up.
According to CONSEQUENCE OF MUSIC, masterminds of the electronic music genre have banded together to re-record a 1073 score by Frank McCarty. Among those participating in the re-recording are Caribou’s Dan Snaith, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, Junior Boys’ Jeremy Greenspan, Floating Point’s Sam Shepherd, and Simian Mobile Disco’s James Shaw.
The original was looked at as a “visual based project” that was performed by his own group BIOME, who used 5 different EMS Synthi synthesizers. To stress the importance of maintaining the quality of the work, those involved in recording the new version have decided to each use a different synthesizer. The production came together mostly in London on July of 2016.
The collective of artists recorded 2 different versions of Tactus Tempus. Side A contains a “tonal” version while Side B features a “noises + impulse” edition. The re-recording will be available via Geej Recording on March 17th and everywhere else on March 24th.
