Little Dragon @ Pappy and Harriet’s 4/13

Continuing on with Coachella’s Side Shows, Pappy and Harriet’s will be hosting the soulful and whimsical sounds of Little Dragon.  The Band came together in 1996 in Gothenburg, Sweden and was the nick name of vocalist Yukimi Nagano, handed to her based up her “tantrums” she would sometimes throw in the studio.   Yukimi, Erik Bodin, Frederick Kallgren and Hakan Wirenstrand would meet after school and listen to records together before recording their own music.  They were influenced by De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Alice Coltrane.

Gaining much popularity throughout Europe and made it over to the U.S. when their single “Twice” was featured on television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, 90210 and Revenge, amongst others.  They were also chosen as one of Beyond Race Magazine’s “50 Emerging Artists of 2009.”  With their smooth, melodic and dream synth lines, rhythmic tempo and Nagano’s silky vice woven in and out, Little Dragon lifts us and reminds us that dreams do in fact take place during the waking life.
