Royksopp @ The Novo 4/20

Remaining true to form, consistent, relevant and maintaining a musical relationship is somewhat of a distant idea these days when it comes to groups.  Royksopp, the Norwegian electric group is the exception, and they’ve been the exception since 1998.   Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland have been making music and touring the world for nearly 20 years and it seems as though they have no end in sight.  They’re 2001 debut album “Melody A.M.” was a statement, a stamp and solidified their stance in the electronic music community and the industry in its entirety.

Part of their relevance is their ability to genre-blend and experiment stylistically with different feels, vibes and sounds.  Notes of ambient, synth pop and house music can be found intertwined and woven throughout their music which brings light and a sense of freshness to each record they produce.  Drawing inspiration from likes of Datasette, Kraftwerk, and even Pink Floyd new listeners are able to able to get a feel for what Royksopp has to offer.

Though the duo hasn’t released an album since 2014 (The Inevitable End), they have released singles and continued to tour the world.  On April 20th Royksopp will be playing at the Novo in DTLA showcasing a timeline of music starting from their inception and racing towards the now.
