Kevin Martin and Dylan Carlson, or better known as The Bug & Earth, have had incredibly successful runs in their respective genres for the last 20 years, learning all they could from their respective styles. Today, the duo announced that they will be joining forces with each other to release a brand new collaborative full-length album entitled Concrete Desert, which is set to hit the shelves on March 24th via Ninja Tune, with a vinyl version that includes a bonus 12″ featuring two tracks from the album with vocals added to it by Justin Broadrick, or rather JK Flesh.
The two artists met through Simon Fowler, visual artist featured on Martin’s (The Bug) Angels & Devils LP. He arranged for Dylan to come to a King Midas Sound gig, which is another project of Martin, however Martin’s trademark use of powerful strobe light made Carlson unable to enter the room due to his epilepsy. Determined to listen to Martin’s work, Carlson featured King Midas Sound’s music on his podcast, and eventually, the two decided to collaborate around Angels & Devils. After seeing that they played very well off each other, the next obvious step was to create a full length album together.
This new album is a gripping experience for any listener, with beautiful chiming melodies with heavy bass darkness spiced in, it captivates you in an astonishing primal and deep way. With a live tour on the horizon, it is exciting to see what will be coming from this new collab.
