It seems like blessings keep falling in my lap cause everyone’s favorite Chance The Rapper is going on tour! He’s hitting up Oakland and will be playing the Oracle Arena on April 26th. This will be only the second stop of his Spring 2017 tour.
Chance The Rapper has been making the gains in the past four years, but he’s been playing the game for a while starting out back in 2010. He’s one of those uniquely millennial talents that choose not to sign with any sort of major label, he wants his music to be accessible, he doesn’t need his product to be for sale and for that he’s changing the game. The rapper’s most recent release is the critically acclaimed and Grammy winning 2016 album Coloring Book. That album has blown up and won the Best Rap Album this year at the Grammys. The most popular songs off that album are No Problem, Juke Jam, Juke Jam, Blessings, and Same Drugs. My personal favorites off that album is Smoke Break and All Night. Honestly, any song off that album is amazing and has intricacies and layers that make the album much more complex but still maintains that easy style that anyone will enjoy. Previous to this, Chance put out his two other mixtapes, 2012’s Ten Day and 2013’s Acid Rap. From his 2012 album, notable songs are Brain Cells, Hey Ma, and Nostalgia. My personal favorite and the album that got me into this rapper was his 2013 album Acid Rap. The best songs from that album are Chainsmoker, Coco Butter Kisses, Favorite Song, and Juice. My personal favorites are Lost, which features one of my favorite rappers Noname, and NaNa. Apart from his mixtape releases Chance The Rapper has been featured on countless albums and songs such as The Hamilton Mixtape, Kehlani’s debut album You Should Be Here, Snakeship’s All My Friends Are Wasted, and Childish Gambino’s I. The Worst Guys to name a few.
Fans of Childish Gambino, Kyle, and Tyler, The Creator will be down for this show and this rapper. Chance The Rapper has been breaking down barriers with his talent from raising awareness for his native Chicago, bringing a spotlight onto political issues, or just making his audience laugh with his slick, amazing raps. Come see this show, cause if you don’t? I guarantee you’ll regret it!
