Get ready, New York City! Prince’s legendary band The Revolution just added a second show after the first one sold out in just under one hour. The tour started as four shows only–playing in NY, Chicago and Philadelphia–but they’ve already starting adding surrounding cities to their tour.
The Revolution formed in 1979 when Prince joined drummer Bobby Z and keyboardist Matt Fink. They were later joined by Lisa Coleman on keyboard/piano, Wendy Melvoin on guitar, and Brown Mark on bass–the full band behind the fame of Purple Rain.
With the unexpected death of Prince just last year, The Revolution was uncertain as to what the future for the band would entail. They were in mourning, but their passion in music and the support of their fans was still very much alive. “Prince said that music is medicine,” Bobby stated from the band’s press release. “People need it, and we need it, and we can make it as authentic as we can. In honor of him, we’ll give it everything we’ve got.” #WeAreAllInThisTogether
