Everyone has heard of Blondie regardless of age. The new wave rock band comes to the Mann Center this summer with the alternative rock band Garbage in tow. Earlier this year Blondie announced their release date for their new album, Pollinator, this year. Blondie has made a huge impact on the rock scene since the late 1900s. Their unique style of mixing pop with rock n roll vibes has kept their fans lusting for more. Debbie Harry, Playboy bunny turned famous actress turned iconic singer, has been the staple of the band. At an impressive age of 71, Debbie Harry shows no sign of slowing down. Blondie has been putting out successful albums for years.
Blonde isn’t the only female led band tearing up the scene this summer. Garbage, the alternative rock band, has made a name for themselves in music. After a successful debut album, Garbage released a handful of equally successful singles over the years. Only Happy When It Rains made it to the top of the UK and US rock charts. Garbage’s second album, Verison 2.0, earned two Grammy nominations. After two short hiatus, Garbage regrouped to record their latest album, Strange Little Birds, last year.
Both Garbage and Blondie have made great strides in their respective genres. Seeing these two great female-driven bands perform with just as much passion as the guys. There is no better way to spend your summer than seeing females icons who can rock it!
