The Octopus Project has just released a brand new song “Pedro Yang.” The band has also announced that the are headlining an East Coast tour. This song comes off their new album, which was recently announced “Memory Mirror,” which will be released April 7th. The Octopus Project has had lots of talented hands working on this new music like Danny Reisch and Dave Fridmann doing some mixing work. The album was headed up by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound.
This group- made up of Toto Miranda, Yvonne Lambert, Josh Lambert, and now featuring multi-instrumentalist Lauren Gurgiolo has been making these great party tunes since 2002. They follow the rock n’ roll vibe with some vibrant electronic, pop and psychedelic landscapes. They have done world tours on their own and with groups like DEVO and Aesop Rock, and they are known for immersing audio-visuals and very explosive live shows. They have recently been working on music for video games and films.
This album represents more focus on instrumentation and arrangement which is in contrast to some of their heavier stuff on their previous albums. Each song seems to allow the band the space they need to try out some heavier sounds and wider vistas unlike ever before. This newest single “Pedro Young,” came from an older failed synth composition. When the rhythms were rearranged, it seemed to have the slow flow that the band wanted for a song
“Memory Mirror” is now accessible for digital pre-order where music is sold. Also check out Ticketfly/Ticketmaster to buy tickets for their upcoming tour.
