Last month lead singer Tom Araya of thrash metal band Slayer, posted a controversial photoshopped picture of Donald Trump along with the band members on their Instagram account sparking an outpour of negative and positive comments. In order to distance themselves from Araya’s political stance, Slayer released a statement to Rolling Stone, “As was verified by Tom, this was his post, is not something the band would have posted if asked, and does not belong on a Slayer social page. We all have our personal opinions, some of which we have voiced in the past, but Slayer has never endorsed any political party or any candidate, and the band intends to keep it that way.”
However, after a recent interview with “Noisey Shreds”, It seems that Slayer has broken their silence about the President. During the interview, drummer Paul Bostaph had no hesitation stating his thoughts on trump, stating that, “Donald Trump’s the biggest joke I’ve ever seen in my life. Everybody, like, clapping for some of the stuff he says? I’m, like, this is the scariest shit I’ve ever seen as an American — in my lifetime.”
Throughout the interview band members shared their thoughts on the Bill of Rights, a potential for a revolution and Gun ownership. Araya explained his thoughts on the government saying, “We were talking about the constitution, and they literally wrote in there that, ‘Hey, listen, if things aren’t going the way you think they should, trash this. Get rid of your government, write a whole new one, because it’s time for a change.'”
