Exciting news for Kool Keith fans. He will be reuniting with Dan the Automator and DJ QBert and be performing as Dr. Octagon for the first time. Dr. Octagon was Kool Keith’s stage name when he released his first album Dr. Octagonecologyst. This album introduced the character Dr. Octagon who was a homicidal surgeon and it crosses the line of horrorcore and electric music. DJ QBert and Dan the automator helped with production and producing of the album. All though it did not sell well in the mainstream, it was well received by the genres that it was intended for. This album did a great job of combining different types of music into one amazingly produced album but it had seemed as if Kool Keith would never take the stage with this album.
The Album recently hit it’s 20th anniversary and fans are elated to hear that the triplet will be performing the album for the first time live on stage. As per Dan the Automator’s Facebook there will be two shows. They will play March 6th at the San Francisco Independent (21+) and a second show at the Teragram Ballroom in LA (all ages). Tickets start at 20 dollars so fans won’t have to pay much to see these artists perform some of their 90’s tunes. The flier for the shows also reveals a possible album re-release but details have not yet been confirmed.
Many people would claim that this album was one of the greatest hip-hop albums of the 1990’s and are looking forward how the group is going to perform it live on stage. Unfortunately they only have the two shows scheduled for now so if you are not in the California area, we have to hope that they will decide to put out some other show dates.
Tour Dates:
