After news of the passing of Dave Franklin, frontman of Vision, has left the Punk community in mourning. Now the underground Punk world can find solace in his death by attending his tribute show. The Dave Franklin tribute show is aptly titled, Doing It For Dave, and will host some major Punk Rock artists such as H20, the rest of his band Vision, Killing Time, Breakdown, Burn, Sheer Terror, Leeway and many more. The performance from his band Vision will see other vocalists stepping in, the same goes for bands such as The Bouncing Souls and Lifetime who will perform but wont have their full roster in attendance.
Dave Franklin passed at the young age of 47 leaving a Punk Rock legacy that can be heard through his band Vision. He was a pioneer of the NJHC (New Jersey Punk Rock) scene that has become respected for its crazy, intense and often dangerous live events. His fame was only solidified by the out pouring of condolences and grief through social media.
“There’s been a tremendous outpouring of sympathy from people Dave has met over the last three decades. He left a significant impression. Dave left his imprint on everything and everyone, he was that outgoing and friendly. He was kind of the larger than life,” Vision guitarist Peter Tabbot told NJ.com. “He was the presence and soul of the band, he had a magnetic personality. His friends are heartbroken.”
Jason Dermer ” Dave (Franklin) was a brother for over 30 years. We met at a Neurotic Impulse show. As they morphed into Vision, we (Dermer’s Hate Squad) latched onto them as their ‘crew,’ roadies, or whatever you want to call it. Pit crew roadies? Without those early years of (Ken) Salerno and me driving them around, helping set up, and hanging around backstage, I wouldn’t be where I am today, running large scale concert production. Thank you Dave, for the open arms and open heart in letting a bunch of maniacs tag along for the ride.”
