The pianist Jean-Michel Blais and Grammy Award-nominated electronic producer CFCF have just announced their collaborative EP, Cascades, release date out March 15th digitally via Arts & Crafts. Following after the release, the album will be available on LP April 14th. After building off the sold out show during the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy, this album is going to be a 5 song, 30 minute collective that navigates the space between the artists’ crafts and tendencies toward what the arts community knows as minimalism. Cascades is a celebration of the traditional and experimental transcendence into the new.
Today, the duo released a collaborative composition by the two “Hypocrite.” These two Montreal musicians bring a new ambient atmosphere to the song. The piano begins and gradually builds until that electronic beat steps in. This combination is quite eclectic reaching its climax and if you are a lover of music you will love this track as it takes you to a new place.
CFCF and Jean-Michel Blais will have a special performance together in the Historic Sanctuary at St. David’s Church in Austin, TX on March 15th as a part of SXSW with the music beginning at 9pm. Together this will be their first collaborative performance outside of Montreal.
