Jeff Rosenstock has been a figure in the united states punk scene for close to 20 years. His latest third studio album, WORRY., released last year on October 14th, and quickly became a favorite among both fans and critics. Many praised Rosenstock’s authentic lyricism, and some even likened WORRY. to a concept album for the topics tackled on the record. Economic anxiety, police brutality, and gentrification are just some of the themes explored on the record. Rosenstock’s catchy punk tracks have attracted fans across the country.
Hailing from Long Island, New York, Rosenstock got his start by playing for various ska and punk bands throughout his 20s and late teens. Some of his earlier projects include The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, Bomb the Music Industry! and the indie rock band Kudrow. Bomb the Music Industry! eventually formed into a collective featuring various artists who distributed their albums for free on CD-R, while resisting all corporate funding. In 2015, Rosenstock’s reach as a musician was extended further due to the SideOneDummy released second solo album, We Cool?. For Rosenstock, the idea of releasing an album through a label gave him a chance to explore his options, widen his audience, and make a record he truly wanted.
You can see Jeff Rosenstock perform live at Barracuda next month on March 9th as an opening act for The Menzingers.
