Bay Area natives and the punk rockers of Nothington are coming home to play Thee Parkside this winter. They’ll be in the city touring on March 25th and celebrating the release of their new album alongside musical acts Drugloards of the Avenues and Daydream Cut Up. The tour is to commemorate not only their released album, but the band’s 10 year reunion. They’ll be hitting up Europe beforehand and then making their way around the west coast.
The band started back in 2006 with the coming together of the duo Jay Northington and Gabe Lindeman and eventually added Chris Matulich and Mike Hicks. The band’s most recent work hasn’t come out yet… just wait another 10 days for their release of album In The End. But back in 2013 was their last full release with Lost Along The Way, which had the hits Solid Ground, All The Way, and Save This. Previous to that the band put out the albums Roads, Ruins, and Bridges in 2009 and More Than Obvious and Borrowed Time in 2011. Hits from those albums include A Mistake and Stop Screaming from their 2009 release, Captive Audience and Where I Can’t Be Found from their 2011 album. The band’s style of anthemic punk hits work perfectly. The lyrics are relatable and encouraging, but with the underlying tone of grit and angst. They keep it real and captivate their audiences with their sounds of promise of “keep holding on” and that “good time will start to rain”. The band displayed their acoustic chops in their 2011 release of Borrowed Time and shows off the vocal style and talent of this act.
Fans of The Offspring, Smoke or Fire, and Paper Arms will be fans of this band and show. Come see some local boys tear it up on stage and get a little boost from this classic punk band. It’s gonna be a fun one, so I’ll see you there to help these hometown boys celebrate.
