If synthpop is your addiction, Future Islands is your drug! Future Islands are coming to the famous Fillmore this spring. After the announcement of a new album, Future Island released their chill alternative song Ran.
Future Island was founded in 2004 by Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion, and Samuel T. Herring. Over the years, Future Islands played for various music festivals while gaining a following. Their first album Waves Like Home was recorded in 2006 and released later in 2007. The album had the same late night vibe that made Future Island so great. From the quiet eerie sounds of Little Dreamer to the quick beats of Flicker and Flutter, Waves Like Home put Future Islands on the map. In Evening Air was Future Island’s second album.
Beside Future Islands’ music, they became popular on YouTube for their live performances on shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Conan. Their lead single, Seasons, off of Singles on was ranked as one of the best songs of 2014 by various music magazines.
Catch one of their shows if you ever have the time. Future Islands is sure to bring some much-needed change to your music collection.
