If there is one thing that Millenials are better at than Instagram- it’s being nostalgic about the 1990’s and the inaugural edition of the When We Were Young Festival, is capitalizing on that skill by wrapping all the 90’s goodness up into two days! The lineup includes a bunch of 90’s and early 2000’s era emo and punk bands most millennials were sure to have burned on a blank c.d from Napster: including AFI, Descendents, Taking Back Sunday, Alkaline Trio, The Get Up Kids, Pinback, and Saves the Day and a headlining performance from The Moz of the 90’s: Morrissey.
Morrissey has also announced a small run of U.S. tour dates in April that will run from Arizona to Texas. This past December, he revealed that the last six shows of his solo tour had been canceled due to logistical reasons and mismanagement of funds while giving a shout out his favorite cities on that run of dates.
“Each date booked would make enough money to pay its way,” Morrissey wrote.
“When Gustavo [Manzur, keyboardist] collapsed at the Boulder show, 360 Management responded with the announcement that all funds had suddenly evaporated. There was apparently not even enough money to transport the touring party to the next scheduled city, and 360 Management faded out as quickly as they had faded in.”
“I will see you in extremely far-off places,” he ended the message.
When We Were Young goes down like a spoon full of sugar on April 8th & 9th at the Santa Ana Observatory in Santa Ana, California and tickets will be available February 10!
Since a festival can not run on Nostalgia alone, the lineup is rounded out by e several contemporary acts as well. from the aforementioned. Among them: FIDLAR, Foxygen, Joyce Manor, Beach Fossils, together PANGEA, and Sunflower Bean. Some stand out’s on the lineup that are a little off but more than welcome include Cage the Elephant and Silversun Pickups, as well as Phil Elverium who is confirmed to play as Mount Eerie.
