After last week’s announcement brought on a bevy of smaller acts, topped by established, rising talent like the Pac NW indie rock outfit Deep Sea Diver, the technical death metal group Rivers of Nihil and UK electronic act with a clever name for grammar fans, Let’s Eat Grandma.

This announcement ups the star power a bit, with several well-known acts announcing their intentions to travel to Austin, TX for the mid-March festival. Some of those names include Eisley, Frankie Rose, Sara Watkins, Deap Vally, Broncho, Mark Eitzel and Ringworm. Some exciting names that might be less well-known but you should keep an eye out for include Hand Habits, Chicano Batman and Meatbodies.

Eisley is a long-running indie pop outfit out of Texas. It has been a few years of relative inactivity from the group, but that silence was broken in late 2016 when they released their first new song in three years, “Defeatist.” The band will be releasing their fifth full length album, I’m Only Dreaming on February 17 through Equal Vision Records. Deap Vally, a flamboyant, hard-rocking feminist duo from Los Angeles, just dropped an LP as well. The band released their sophomore effort, Femijism in September.

Once a part of the massively successful bluegrass band Nickel Creek, Sara Watkins will bring her low-key solo material out to Austin as well. She released her third solo album in July, the well-received In All The Wrong Ways. Frankie Rose also used to be part of a band that is iconic within their genre, Vivian Girls (and wrote what is arguably their best song, “Where Do You Run.”) Rose played drums on the band’s first LP, the lo-fi classic Vivian Girls.
